Netflix has built a whole kingdom of twisty mystery dramas, and I Will Find You is the latest arrival at the castle gates. Based on the bestselling novel by Harlan Coben, the eight-episode thriller debuted on June 18, 2026, featuring a strong cast, plenty of shocking revelations, and enough cliffhangers to keep viewers glued to their screens late into the night.
But does I Will Find You live up to the hype or is it just another mystery series that relies on endless plot holes?
Here’s our spoiler-free review, cast guide and everything you need to know before you hit play.
What Is I Will Find You?
David Burroughs is serving life for the murder of his young son, Matthew. This is his story. David’s always said he’s innocent but no one believes him.
But then everything changes, when his ex-sister-in-law Rachel Mills arrives with a photograph that seems to show Matthew alive years after his alleged death. David takes a desperate choice when the chance that his son survived comes up. As law enforcement launches a nationwide manhunt, he breaks out of prison and begins a dangerous mission to find the truth.
From that moment, the series becomes a roller-coaster ride of family secrets, hidden agendas and shocking discoveries.
I Will Find You? Cast Guide: Who’s Who
The show’s biggest strength is its talented ensemble.
David Burroughs – Sam Worthington
Sam Worthington, best known for his role in Avatar, plays the emotionally-demanding role of David Burroughs. A broken father. A convicted killer. A man who will risk it all for one last chance to save his son.
Worthington brings a lot of intensity to the role, particularly in the show’s most emotional moments.
Rachel Mills, Played by Britt Lower
Britt Lower’s ascent to becoming one of television’s most arresting performers continues. Rachel is the person who discovers the evidence that restarts David’s search, and who becomes one of the most important characters in the story.
Many viewers are already calling her the best performer of the series.
Milo Ventimiglia – Hayden
Milo Ventimiglia is charismatic and mysterious as Hayden. He quickly becomes one of the most interesting characters in the story and every scene with him feels significant.
Sarah Greer (Logan Browning)
Among the officers tasked with hunting David down after his escape is FBI Agent Sarah Greer, played by Logan Browning. Sarah feels layered and human, unlike many typical law-enforcement characters.
Max Williams – Chi McBride
Veteran actor Chi McBride is strong in a supporting role as Sarah’s partner and mentor. His experience adds authenticity to the detection scenes.
Supporting roles
The series also includes:
- Erin Richards 1
- Jonathan Tucker (actor)
- Madeleine Stowe
- Clancy Brown
- Vas Saranga (Saranga)
Together they help to forge a world of suspects, secrets and shifting loyalties.
What Works Well
The Show Never Stops Going On
If there’s one thing Will Find You does extremely well it’s pacing.
Each episode brings a new clue, a new suspect or another shocking revelation. The story rarely drags, making it supremely bingeable.
You start with one episode and suddenly realize it’s 2 AM and you’ve watched 4.
The Hook of the Mystery
Harlan Coben adaptations are known for keeping the audience guessing.
Even if you think you’ve got the mystery solved, the show will throw another twist at you. Not all surprises land equally well, but the sense of not knowing what’s coming keeps the tension alive.
Britt Lower is amazing
Sam Worthington might be the emotional anchor of the story but Britt Lower often upstages him.
Her acting is natural, emotional and believable. She brings a depth to scenes that could have just as easily been stock thriller fare.
High Level of Production
Obviously Netflix put some money into this.
The cinematography is slick, the locations feel real, and the overall look gives the series a premium feel.
What Does Not Work
Some Twists Stretch Credibility
This is probably the most frequent criticism from viewers.
The series sometimes asks the audience to accept highly unlikely situations. There are some reveals that require a suspension of disbelief so heavy.
Fans of realistic crime dramas may roll their eyes during a few key moments.
Expected elements;
That said, the show has plenty of surprises in store, even if those who are well-versed in the genre might be able to guess a few of the big reveals.
The clues aren’t always as subtle as the writers probably meant.
Standard Harlan Coben Formula
This will be a plus for certain viewers.
For others, it may feel repetitive.
If you’ve seen a number of Harlan Coben Netflix adaptations, you’ll recognize a lot of the story beats immediately.
Is I Will Find You a Good Movie to Watch
Sure, but with the right expectations.
If you’re looking for a realistic crime drama, like a true crime documentary, this probably isn’t the show for you.
But if you like:
- Page-turning thrillers
- Prison break stories
- Family secrets
- Conspiracy ploys
- Endless cliffhangers
- Adaptations of Harlan Coben
Then I Will Find You does what it says on the tin.
The series knows what it wants. It wants to entertain, surprise you, make you want to hit “Next Episode.”
And for the most part, it does.
Bottom Line
I Will Find You may not be the smartest mystery Netflix has ever produced, but it’s certainly one of the most bingeable.
It’s a thriller that’s hard to stop watching once it gets going, thanks to its combination of emotional stakes, compelling performances and relentless pacing.
Britt Lower is the biggest star of the series. Sam Worthington is solid as a desperate father seeking answers. The twists are sometimes far-fetched, but they are entertaining enough that most viewers won’t mind.
